A Makeover

Jeremiah 18:1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying: 2 "Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause you to hear My words." 3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.
Customers shopping at Wal-Mart (one of America’s favorite pastimes) in the city of Clarksville are probably frustrated during this season. Because of the frequency of which Americans patronize the store, many of us are pretty familiar with the location of most items. However, the stores in Clarksville (with the exception of one) are getting a total makeover. Product s are being moved from their traditional locations to places that marketing experts say will make our visit to the store more pleasurable. Wal-Mart’s reputation of customer service, cleanliness, and convenience is being temporarily forfeited for a better shopping experience in the future. Although we don’t see it now, the end result of the makeover will benefit us at a later time.

Jeremiah got to witness a makeover when he visited the potter’s house. When he arrived to his destination, he witnessed the potter making clay pots on the potter’s wheel. The Bible says that the clay was marred (spoiled or messed up) in the hands of the potter. But instead of disposing of the vessel, the potter put the pottery back on the wheel and made it over again resulting in an extreme makeover.

If you’re reading this and you’ve been affected by the twists, turns, and traumas of life (especially being involved in both church and ministry), don’t forfeit the fight because you’ve been wounded. Allow The Potter of Life to “make you over again.”

Let’s Pray:
“Father, we pray that You’ll make us over again and again, in Jesus’ Name, amen.”

Daily Prayer:

“Oh, that You would bless me indeed,
and enlarge my territory,
that Your hand would be with me,
and that You would keep me from evil,
that I may not cause pain!”

The Prayer of Jabez, I Chronicles 4:10
