A Merciful God

Exodus 33:19:  “…I am the Lord, and I show mercy and kindness to anyone I choose...” (CEV)

I recall the media interviewing the owner of a business in our area that was robbed during its hours of operation.
The thieves were armed and surveillance observed their intent to take the livesof those working.  But an interesting thing happened when the robbers tried pulling the trigger—their guns didn’t fire!  The cameras actually
showed one of the robbers attempting to fire his weapon and rounds falling out
of the chamber!  When the employees were interviewed, no one mentioned or
credited God as The Catalyst behind such a notable miracle.  The reporter
chalked it up as the employees being “lucky.”

Those in the household of faith recognize that the endangered lives were spared because of God’s Mercy.
The psalmist observed that not only is the Lord good, but His Mercy is
everlasting (Psalm 100:5).  How many times have we benefited from the Mercy of
God and not given Him the glory?  Mercy isn’t merited or earned (Isaiah
64:6), but The Lord exercises It in Sovereignty.  In fact, He told Moses in
Exodus 33:19, “…I am the Lord, and I show mercy and kindness to anyone I choose…” (CEV)

Let’s celebrate God today for His Wonderful Mercy.

Let’s Pray:
“Father, thank You for Your Everlasting.  We glorify You for having mercy on us when we
didn’t even recognize You as Lord and Savior.  We pray that You’ll
continue to extend mercy toward those not saved.  Save their souls we pray, in
Jesus’ Name, amen.”

Daily Prayer:
“Oh, that You would bless me indeed,

and enlarge my territory,

that Your hand would be with me,

and that You would keep me from evil,
that I may not cause pain!”
The Prayer of Jabez, I Chronicles 4:10

Daily Confession:
Father,
I thank You for making me the head and not the tail
Above only and not beneath
The lender and not the borrower
The conqueror and not the conquered

I thank You for giving me all things
that pertain unto life and godliness
And for delivering my life from death
and destruction
So that I shall live and not die to
declare your works

I thank You that no sickness shall live
in my body today
For by Your Stripes I’m healed
I confess that I will not be stressed,
oppressed, or depressed
Because You’re keeping me in
perfect peace as my mind is stayed on Thee

I confess that there shall be no lack in
my life today
For my God shall supply all my needs
according to His Riches in Glory by Christ Jesus

Thank You that all things are working
together for my good
And that You always cause me to triumph

This is the day that you have made
I will rejoice and be glad in it
In Jesus, Name, amen.

Questions of the Day:
John 2:6-11

What kind of vessels did Jesus use to place water?
What was His Command to the wedding workers?
What did He tell the wedding workers to do after they were full?
What did the master of the feast say to the bridegroom?
In verse 11, what was the end result of this miracle?
