God is Counting on You!

Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

One of the last instructions that the disciples received from Jesus is recorded in Matthew 28:19-20 (see above Scripture). There words are more than a Command; they are the charge of responsibility being given to the disciples. When Jesus ascended to heaven, the disciples inherited the task of advancing the Kingdom that Jesus established. Not only did our Lord depend upon them to carry out this Command, but He trusted them to be faithful with the assignment He’d given them.

Contrary to the thinking of some Christians, our union with God is not one dimensional. Many believers only think of God’s Role and never contemplate our responsibilities in maintaining our relationship with the Father. But just like we are depending upon God, He’s also depending upon us. Believers must be committed and take seriously our responsibility to advance God’s Kingdom each day.

The Command in Matthew 28:19-20 was not just for the disciples, but it extended generationally even to the 21st century church. Today’s exhortation is to contemplate this question: “Can God depend upon me?”

Let’s Pray: “Father, help us to be faithful in our assignment that You’ve given us. We pray that You’ll be able to depend upon us today and always, in Jesus’ Name, amen.”

Father, I thank You for making me the head and not the tail

Above only and not beneath

The lender and not the borrower

The conqueror and not the conquered



I thank You for giving me all things that pertain unto life and godliness

And for delivering my life from death and destruction

So that I shall live and not die to declare your works

For by Your Stripes I'm healed

Thank You that all things are working together for my good

And that You always cause me to triumph
